NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It appears more and more likely that Steve McNair's's tenure with the Tennessee Titans is over. The club has told the veteran quarterback they don't want him working out in their building. McNair has spent his entire eleven-year N-F-L career with the Titans.
He was told to go home Monday when he showed up at the team's headquarters for the start of the third week in the Titans' offseason conditioning program.
The N-F-L's 2003 co-Most Valuable Player is due nine (m) million dollars in salary in 2006. But his salary cap number is 23-point-46 (m) million dollars, and the Titans may not want to risk the liability if McNair is hurt on their property.
Tennessee holds the number-three pick overall in the draft. That's the same spot at which they took McNair in 1995. They are known to have been studying top quarterback prospects Matt Leinart (LY'-nurt) of Southern California, Vince Young of Texas and Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler in recent weeks.
