DURHAM, N.C. - Bill Dooley, who was the head football coach at North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, is in critical but stable condition following surgery.<br>

Officials at Duke University Hospital say the surgery was to repair an aneurysm.<br>

Dooley led three teams to bowl games in a head coaching career that spanned 26 seasons.<br>

Dooley's career coaching record is 162-125-and-5.<br>
