LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas coach Houston Nutt hinted Tuesday that the Razorbacks might start playing Texas again in football.<br>

Nutt was speaking at the Little Rock Touchdown Club when an audience member said he had heard on the radio that Arkansas' series with the Longhorns would resume. Nutt was asked if he could comment.<br>

``I'm not supposed to, but evidently it's out,'' Nutt said, drawing a laugh. ``I was told by (athletic director Frank) Broyles and (executive associate athletic director) Bill Gray not to say nothing. And I've already been asked three times since I walked in this room, so y'all know more than I do.''<br>

Arkansas and Texas had a fierce rivalry before the Razorbacks left the Southwest Conference for the Southeastern Conference before the 1992 season. In 1969, No. 1 Texas beat No. 2 Arkansas 15-14 in front of a Fayetteville crowd that included President Nixon.<br>

The teams have played three times since Arkansas left the SWC, most recently in 2004. The Longhorns, who won the national championship last season, now play in the Big 12.<br>

A columnist for the Austin American-Statesman in Austin, Texas, wrote Tuesday that the teams will soon announce a home-and-home series for 2008 and 2009.<br>

A Texas spokesman told The Associated Press on Tuesday he could not confirm the report. An Arkansas official confirmed that the schools have been talking about renewing the football series, but said any official announcement would be made by both schools at the same time.<br>
