FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Two former Arkansas football players including one who plays for the Green Bay Packers have been sued by a bouncer who claims he was hit in the face during an argument at a local bar.
Packers cornerback Ahmad Carroll, who played for the Razorbacks from 2001-03, and senior Dedrick Poole were sued for in excess of $2 million. The suit was filed Wednesday in Washington County Circuit Court on behalf of Ben Hicks.
According to the suit, Hicks was working at Willy D's on Feb. 16 when Carroll, 22, of Atlanta, and Poole, 23, of Fayetteville, tried to enter. Hicks claims the two men were told they couldn't go inside until other patrons left because the bar was too crowded.
At that point, the two became agitated, the suit alleges. Carroll offered Hicks $100 to allow them in, and after Hicks said the money wasn't the issue, Carroll eventually gave the bouncer a ``shove on his head,'' according to the suit.
The suit claims Poole struck Hicks in the face a few moments later.
The men were later found by Fayetteville police at another club. Poole reportedly cooperated, but Carroll is accused of slapping the hand of an officer and faces charges of assaulting an officer, refusing to submit to arrest and disorderly conduct.
The lawsuit accuses Poole of battery that caused damage to Hicks' face. Carroll is accused of conspiracy to commit the battery.
The suit says Hicks has been told by doctors he will no longer be able to teach or compete in martial arts.
Carroll had two interceptions in 2005 for Green Bay. He also returned kickoffs.
Poole had 5 yards rushing and 35 yards receiving for Arkansas last season. He was also arrested Tuesday for failing to appear in court to take care of a traffic ticket.
