People line up in freezing rain to pay respects to King

<p>An honor guard of the Atlanta Police Department carried Coretta Scott King's casket into Ebenezer Baptist Church early today as a light, cold drizzle fell outside.</p><p>Inside the church, the open casket was blanketed with an arrangement of red and salmon-colored roses and white irises. The casket was surrounded by seven sprays of white or red roses.</p><p>The song "Nearer My God To Thee" was played in the church as the casket was brought in.</p><p>People began lining up at 5 a.m. in freezing rain near Ebenezer Baptist Church to pay their respects to Coretta Scott King.</p><p>Her body is lying in honor at the church where her husband -- the Reverend Martin Luther King Junior -- preached in the years before his death.</p><p>A banner from last month's King holiday is still hanging in the church.</p><p>Fifty-one-year-old Mary Howard-Hamilton is a college professor from Bloomington, Indiana. She waited in line for five hours today after making an eight-hour drive to Atlanta yesterday. She was one of the first to view King's body.</p><p>In her words, "It's almost like the torch was passed when I walked past her. I felt empowered."</p><p>Later today, friends plan a musical tribute to King.</p><p>King's funeral is planned for tomorrow at the suburban Atlanta church where her youngest child, Bernice, is a minister.</p>
