Duke forward Boykin leaving school

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke sophomore Jamal Boykin, who has been suffering from mononucleosis, has decided to leave the university, school officials said Friday.<br> <br> Boykin has missed Duke&#39;s last six games since being diagnosed in late November with mono. He returned to his home in Los Angeles last week and told Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski he didn&#39;t plan to return.<br> <br> ``Jamal is a great young man and we wish him the best in his future,&#39;&#39; Krzyzewski said. ``We&#39;re friends and we totally support him through his illness, his impending transfer and whatever family concerns he has.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> Boykins, a 6-7, 230-pound forward, averaged 1.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in three games this year. He averaged 1 point and nearly a rebound a game in 26 appearances last season.<br> <br> Boykins is the second member of his highly regarded recruiting class to leave Duke. Eric Boateng, a 6-10 high-school all-American, transferred to Arizona State.
