<p>A woman is facing charges for accepting gifts and money from people who believed she had cancer and would not live for very long.</p><p>Pam Allen, 40, even got repairs to her house, police said.</p><p>But when she stayed alive for a year and a half, "people started getting suspicious," Dalton police spokesman Chris McDonald said.</p><p>Allen has been charged with theft by deception and is currently free on $10,000 bond.</p><p>McDonald said Allen told investigators she wanted attention.</p><p>Several people identified as victims by detectives said they did not want to press charges against her, McDonald said.</p><p>Allen told The Daily Citizen of Dalton that she would not comment on the case.</p><p>Allen made similar claims of poor health in 2001 at a church in Chattanooga, Tenn., McDonald said.</p><p>"Apparently they made her make an apology to the church and no charges were filed," he said.</p><p>Marilyn Young, a Dalton cosmetologist, said she gave Allen groceries, cooked for her and arranged a plane ride for her.</p><p>"I came in contact with her through one of my clients," Young said.
