GHS girls hold on to No. 3 ranking - for now

UNDATED - For now the Gainesville girls basketball team sits third in the latest gasports.com poll but things could change on the next go-around.

The Lady Elephants (18-4) were knocked off Tuesday night by No. 7 Johnson. Fannin County is ninth after going 1-1 last week. Franklin County is eighth while Kendrick and Hephzibah remained at Nos. 1 and 2 Southwest Macon fourth and Avondale fifth.

In Class AA, four Region 8-AA teams are in the top 10 with Wesleyan reclaiming the top spot from Laney. Greater Atlanta Christian is fourth, Buford eighth and East Hall is tied for 10th. Model is third with Holy Innocents fifth.

In Class A, Jefferson and Hebron Christian both slipped in the poll but remained in the top 10 at ninth and 10th, respectively. Wilkinson County took over the top spot from W.D. Mohammed. Atkinson County, hancock Central and Randolph-Clay round out the top five.

In Class AAAA, Marist jumped over St. Pius to take over the No. 1 spot while in Class AAAAA the top four teams - Collins Hill, Morrow, Campbell, and South Gwinnett - all remained the same.
