BUFORD - The Gainesville Reds, playing their first game in nearly a week, rallied to Buford Post 127 9-7 in American Legion baseball action Saturday.
The Reds (14-13, 5-1 in area) will play a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. at West Hall Field against first Cumming Post 307 and then against the Gainesville A's at 6 p.m. Both are Area Games.
The Reds will play Dawsonville Post 247 Monday in Dawsonville and Tuesday at West
Hall. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and are area games.
Against Buford, the Reds fell behind quickly as Buford scored two runs in the first and then two more in the fourth off starter Hunter Chandler, who did not get much early support from his defense, which committed three errors behind him. Chandler struck out six in 4 1/3 innings before giving way to P.J. Krauss.
Krauss (1-0) got the win pitching 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to get his first
career American Legion Win. Krauss only gave up 2 hits the rest of the game.
Gainesville's bats also came alive in the sixth inning scoring eight runs, all earned to take the lead.
Seth Anglin started the inning off with a single to left. Austin Palmer and Carson Turner walked to load the bases and Nick Palmer doubled to score Anglin and Palmer.
Andrew Pallerino grounded out second to drive in Turner and then Blake Albertson doubled, Blake Burns walked and Blake Master flew out to deep right field to move both runners up. Brett Ernst then singled to left to drive in Albertson and Burns.
Anglin, with his second at-bat in the inning, ended the Scoring with a towering two-run home run to right
In the 8th the Reds' Matt Williams hit a monster home run that hit the lights in
right center field.
