Jones out with sore foot

By By The Associated Press
PHOENIX - Chipper Jones was a last-minute scratch from Atlanta's lineup Saturday night after experiencing soreness in his left foot during batting practice. He grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the seventh.

Jones was on the injured reserve list from June 6th to July 18th with a partially torn ligament in the foot.

Jones is the only switch-hitter in baseball history with a career .300 average and 300 homers. He is one of three big-name players to miss significant time for the Braves this season.

Right-hander Tim Hudson missed a month with a strained muscle in his side and left-hander Mike Hampton faced a six-week absence due to a strained left forearm.
