Authorities arrest robbery suspect in movie theater

<p>About twenty-four hours after chasing two robbery suspects into the hot attic space of a theater complex after a robbery attempt, police caught the second suspect early Wednesday morning.</p><p>Officers searching the building found the man hiding between two walls on the second floor of the building, Fayetteville Police Detective Steve Crawshaw said.</p><p>Police spent hours trying to sweat the suspect out of the Tinseltown theater. When they responded to a holdup alarm at 1 a.m. Tuesday, authorities found two employees tied up, although they were not injured.</p><p>Fayetteville Police Lt. Beverly Trainor said officers saw two people crawling into the ceiling. They were able to get one suspect out, but the other remained in the maze-like attic space.</p><p>For the rest of the day, police tried to get the suspect out of the duct work of the 17-screen theater in the Fayetteville Pavilion complex off Georgia 85. SWAT teams from Fayette and neighboring counties sent personnel into the theater, according to Trainor. Earlier, authorities turned the air conditioning off in an effort to force the suspect out of the sweaty labyrinth.</p><p>Members of a SWAT team also sprayed the area with pepper spray, Crawshaw said.</p><p>When officers found the man around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, he surrendered without incident, Crawshaw said.</p><p>"I think, at that point, he knew it was over," he said.</p><p>The man, whose name has not been released, was not armed, Crawshaw said.</p><p>The other suspect who was taken into custody was identified as Aundrea Lee, 28. Both men may face charges of robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment, Crawshaw said.</p>
