Authorities arrest robbery suspect in movie theater

<p>About twenty-four hours after chasing one of two robbery suspects into the hot attic of a theater complex, police caught the man early Wednesday morning.</p><p>Officers found the man hiding between two walls on the second floor of the Tinseltown theater, Fayetteville Police Detective Steve Crawshaw said.</p><p>It all began when police responded to a holdup alarm at 1 a.m. Tuesday and found two theater employees tied up, but uninjured. They also saw the two robbery suspects crawling into the space above the theater's ceiling, said Fayetteville Police Lt. Beverly Trainor.</p><p>Police caught one man, but the other slipped away into the building's maze-like attic.</p><p>For nearly 24 hours, police tried to get the suspect out of the web of ductwork of the 17-screen theater in the Fayetteville Pavilion complex. SWAT teams from Fayette and neighboring counties were sent to help, Trainor said.</p><p>Police turned the air conditioning off in an effort to force the suspect out of the sweaty labyrinth and sprayed the area with pepper spray, Crawshaw said.</p><p>When officers found the man around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, he surrendered without incident, Crawshaw said.</p><p>"I think, at that point, he knew it was over," he said.</p><p>The man, whose name was not immediately released, was unarmed, Crawshaw said.</p><p>The other suspect who was taken into custody was identified as Aundrea Lee, 28. Both men may face charges of robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment, Crawshaw said.</p>
