<p>Two 18-wheelers crashed Monday morning on Interstate 85, killing more than 2,000 chickens and sending both drivers to the hospital.</p><p>James Armour, 47, of Gainesville, Ga., was transporting a load of chickens for Fieldale Farms of Baldwin, Ga., when a second truck driven by 34-year-old Anthony Meadow of Union struck the chicken truck, said South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman Lance Cpl. Dan Marsceau. Both trucks went into the median and turned over, Marsceau said.</p><p>Armour was trapped for more than two hours following the accident. He was taken by helicopter to a Greenville hospital and was being kept overnight for observation, Marsceau said.</p><p>Meadow was first taken to Oconee Memorial Hospital by Oconee Emergency Medical Services and later transferred to Greenville.</p><p>Both are expected to recover and the accident is still under investigation, Marsceau said.</p><p>A crew from Fieldale handled the clearing of the chickens, said Emergency Management director Henry Gordon.</p><p>"They certainly saved us a lot of grief," he said.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd9b28)</p>
