OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI - Chris Coghlan homered and had four RBIs as Mississippi defeated South Carolina 8-4 on Sunday.<br>

The Rebels (37-16, 15-12 Southeastern Conference) led 8-0 after five innings. Coghlan's two-run shot, his sixth on the season, came in the third inning after Ole Miss had taken a 6-0 lead. Coghlan also singled in two runs in the Rebels' six-run second inning.<br>

South Carolina (34-19, 13-14) got one run back in the sixth inning on Steve Pearce's solo home run, his 16th on the year. Pearce singled in the seventh inning, batting in two of South Carolina's three runs.<br>

Winning pitcher Eric Fowler (5-2) struck out 11 and walked two in 6 1-3 innings.<br>

Losing pitcher Jason Fletcher (5-5) allowed four runs in 1 1-3 innings.
