Former teacher sentenced to 17 1/2 years for child pornography

<p>A former high school math teacher was sentenced Wednesday to 17 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography on the Internet.</p><p>Michael Aaron O'Keefe, 37, who taught at Darton College and most recently at Lee County High School, was convicted Nov. 30 of possession and advertising child pornography.</p><p>Prosecutors said O'Keefe managed a Web site in 2000 that included a slide show of girls, as young as 3 years old, being sexually abused. Two years later, he set up another site from his high school classroom that invited visitors to view his photo gallery containing child pornography but first required they send him images as well, they said.</p><p>O'Keefe admitted that he set up a Web site from his classroom but claimed it was part of a vigilante effort to expose Internet child pornography.</p>
