CLEARWATER, FLORIDA - An old problem has resurfaced for 27-year-old Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Vicente Padilla. He missed two months last season with triceps tendinitis, and an MRI confirms he has the problem again. He's expected to rest the arm for a couple of weeks at spring training.
Padilla is slated to be Philadelphia's No. 2 starter, but manager Charlie Manuel said the team wants to make sure he's pain free when he throws and that the team would have to make an adjustment if he needs more time.
If Padilla isn't ready, Gavin Floyd, Philadelphia's top pitching prospect, has the inside track to replace him in the rotation.
