Collins Hill whips Redan for AAAAA crown

DULUTH - Maya Moore scored 24 points, 15 in the first half, and Collins Hill won its third state crown in five years, beating Redan 69-52 Friday for the Class AAAAA girls state championship.<br> <br> The Lady Eagles (31-1) held Redan to two points over the final six minutes of the first period, which they closed with a 16-2 run, and pushed to a 21-point lead 1:43 into the second, when Ashley Austin&#39;s two free throws made it 28-7.<br> <br> The Lady Eagles lost in the state 2004 championship game to Stephenson, whom they beat in the semifinals. ``It was all about redemption for us,&#39;&#39; said Austin, who made 10-of-10 free throws and finished with 14 points. ``We had to come back and prove we could do it.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> Redan (23-8), which beat McEachern in the semifinals, got within six on Natalie Holder&#39;s basket to open the second half, finishing a 17-2 run for the Lady Raiders, but Collins Hill pushed the margin back to 19 on Greteya Kelley&#39;s 3-pointer, closing a 15-2 run. Porsha Phillips scored 14 for Redan and Amelia Murray added 11.
