<p>Georgia has lost a former governor in each of the last three years, reducing the roster of living former chief executives to five.</p><p>The living former governors are:</p><p>_Carl Sanders, governor from 1963 to 1967, now 79.</p><p>_Jimmy Carter, governor from 1971 to 1975, now 80.</p><p>_Joe Frank Harris, governor from 1983 to 1991, now 69.</p><p>_Zell Miller, governor from 1991 to 1999, now 73.</p><p>_Roy Barnes, governor from 1999 to 2003, now 56.</p><p>Governors who died in the last three years:</p><p>2003: Lester Maddox, governor from 1967 to 1971.</p><p>2004: George Busbee, governor from 1975 to 1983.</p><p>2005: S. Ernest Vandiver, governor from 1959 to 1963.</p><p>Note: All governors on the list were Democrats. Busbee was the first eligible to serve two consecutive, four-year terms.</p>
