White County Water Project Stalls

By by Dean Dyer/WRWH
CLEVELAND - The efforts to provide water for the residents of the Bean Creek community in White County has hit some roadblocks.

Grant money has been approved to build a water system to serve the residents of that community, but several issues concerning the White County Water Authority, White County Commissioners and a person who has indicated they will donate land for the water tank has brought the project to a halt.

Tuesday night residents and those working on the water project met with the White County Commissioners asking them for help in getting the project moving. The biggest obstacle is providing access to the property which is located off Trammell Road.

The section where the water tank would be located is not a county maintained road and the Water Authority and residents are asking the commissioners to pick up the maintenance on the short 1/4 mile section of road.

There are other issues that need to be resolved but those working with the project say if they can get the road issue resolved they can work out the others.

The commissioners have called a special on-site meeting, at the intersection Bean Creek Road and Trammel Road, Thursday morning at 8:00 am to discuss the situation.

Many at the meeting Tuesday night emphasized the need to get this project completed because of the danger the current drinking water supply poses there.
