RABBITTOWN - A post Christmas sale of a different sort took place Monday in Rabbittown east of Gainesville.
It was a sad kind of a sale, a sale of Christmas magic, created by Johnny Williamson; a holiday display that stretched across thirteen acres East Hall hillside, lakeside, and front yard.
Sunday night Williamson's Christmas lights lit up for the last time; Monday he sold most of it.
"Most of the stuff I made myself, had a lot of pride in doing it, had a lot of fun in doing it, saw a lot of kids, it's just time to quit," Williamson recalled.
Williamson said setting up all that Christmas got too hard on his knees at age sixty-six.
"I wish we would continue but it's just hard on me," Williamson said.
Williamson remembered he began the Christmas lights at his home when his two sons were children in 1968.
