By by Ken Stanford
OAKWOOD - Oakwood City Manager Stan Brown, a member of the Air Force Reserves, has been activated for duty in Iraq.

Mayor Lamar Scroggs says Brown is to report to his unit, which is based in Marietta, later this week. After a brief training period in the states, he will depart in early February for assignment to Iraq.

Brown, on the job in Oakwood for about a year, is a Lt. Colonel and civil engineer in the reserves.

Assistant City Manager Patti Doss-Luna will serve as Acting City Manager during Brown's absence.

"The city council and staff wish Stan the best during his tour of duty and look forward to his safe return later this year," Mayor Scroggs said.
