Death penalty sought for man accused of killing father, abducting nuns

<p>Authorities said Friday that they will seek the death penalty for a man accused of killing his father, then abducting two nuns and taking them to Virginia, where he decapitated one of them.</p><p>Adrian O'Neal Robinson, 27, of Hamilton was returned to Harris County by county deputies Thursday evening from Norfolk, Va., and will be held in the Harris County Jail until his trial is completed.</p><p>Robinson is accused of shooting 56-year-old Henry Knapper Robinson Jr. 16 times on March 23, 2003, at their home. He pleaded guilty about three months later in Norfolk to charges of capital murder and abduction in the slaying of Sister Philomena Fogarty and the kidnapping of Fogarty and Sister Lucie Kristofik from their home behind Christ the King Catholic Church in Harris County.</p><p>Robinson was sentenced to life plus 20 years and six months with no chance of parole in Virginia. He was arrested in Norfolk four days after his father was killed. Kristofik told authorities that Robinson left the hotel with Fogarty the morning of March 26, leaving her captive. She escaped and called for help.</p><p>Police in Virginia Beach found Fogarty's decapitated body outside an office building in a parking lot on March 27, about 30 minutes after police spotted him driving near Norfolk State University and chased him into a swampy area.</p><p>District Attorney John Gray said he notified the court that the state intends to seek the death penalty, and that he expects an attorney will be appointed for Robinson if he cannot hire his own. Conger said he hopes the trial can be held by June 2005.</p><p>Robinson, who was Class AA state high school wrestling champion in 1995, came from a respected family that is well known in Harris County wrestling circles.
