TORONTO - The Toronto Raptors have hired former Atlanta Hawks general manager Pete Babcock to be their director of NBA player personnel.
Babcock - the brother of new Raptors' general manager Rob Babcock - will focus on free agents and trades.
Pete Babcock spent 13 years as the Hawks' GM before being fired last year. Atlanta made the playoffs in eight of his first nine full seasons, reaching 50 victories three times and winning the Central Division championship in 1994.
But his teams never got past the second round of the playoffs, and he was criticized for failing to improve the team through the draft.
