GAINESVILLE - State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) rangers are looking for a Jet Ski that almost rammed a fishing boat on Lake Lanier earlier this week.
Ranger Calvin Stewart says a Gwinnett County couple - a 70 year old man and his 68 year old wife - told investigators they were fishing near the rowing venue when the Jet Ski operator aimed his craft at their's at a high rate of speed.
"At the last minute, they swerved abruptly, showering the couple with water," Stewart said, avoiding what could have been a deadly collision. "This kind of operation is what gives (personal watercraft operators) a bad name."
Stewart says the Jet Ski was green-and-white and was operated by a blonde-headed male teenager; a teenage girl was with him.
He says they face a charge of reckless operation of a vessel and perhaps other charges.
