GAINESVILLE - Rich White is the new chairman of the Gainesville-based North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF).

In addition to White (Chairman, Regions Bank), the NGCF's 2004-2005 officers are: Doug Carter/Vice Chair (President, Don Carter Realty); Lindsay B. Robertson/Treasurer (Moss Robertson Cadillac); Lorrie Schrage/Secretary(owner, Saul's); and John D. Solesbee/Assistant Secretary (Regional Publisher, The Northeast Georgia Region - CNI). The President of the North Georgia Community Foundation is James E. Mathis, Jr.

"Under Jim Mathis's leadership, the Foundation has grown to over $21 million in assets and provided over $ 1.7 million in charitable funding to the North Georgia area this year to date," White said.

White, replaces the outgoing chairman, John Gram, who served as NGCF Board member for six years.

The NGCF has also welcomed one new board member, Lynda D. Askew, recently retired after 14 years with the United Way of Hall County where she served as Vice President for Community Impact.

The North Georgia Community Foundation was founded in 1985 and receives charitable contributions and manages them in a collective, permanent endowment. Income from the endowment is used, in turn, to support a variety of worthy programs and projects that benefit North Georgia.
