Jack Bell, former Carroll County sheriff, commissioner, dies

<p>Jack Bell, who served as police chief in Carrollton and Carroll County sheriff and commission chairman, has died. He was 73.</p><p>Bell died Friday from injuries after he was run over by a tractor he had been driving while mowing a field for the Carroll County Water Authority, said Sheriff Terry Langley.</p><p>The county's new jail in 2001 was named the Jack T. Bell Detention Center, recognizing his effort as commission chairman to build support for a modern facility to accommodate a growing population.</p><p>Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Reeves Bell, of Villa Rica; three daughters, a sister and five grandchildren.</p><p>The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Villa Rica.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x28681fc)</p>
