High school student killed in apartment shooting

<p>Coweta County authorities have filed murder charges against two men in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old girl at an apartment complex in Newnan.</p><p>The Coweta County Sheriff's Department filed the charges against Marquis Damon Cannon, 28, of Newnan and Roderick Calvin Thomas, 24, of College Park.</p><p>Cannon was brought to the Coweta County Jail. Authorities were still seeking Thomas, who has a previous conviction for aggravated assault.</p><p>Authorities have not identified the triggerman in the shooting, which happened after 10 p.m. Tuesday. Heather Rhodes of Peachtree City was killed in the shooting.</p><p>Rhodes was visiting her boyfriend, Mandel Mahama, authorities said. Sheriff's Capt. Jim Yarbrough said marijuana was being sold out of the apartment.</p><p>Yarbrough said two men knocked on the apartment door and were allowed inside. One of the men drew a shotgun and demanded money, he said.</p><p>Rhodes, who attended Starr's Mill High School, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mahama, 22, and another man, Steven Devereux, 22, of Fayetteville, were flown to separate hospitals in Atlanta.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x28665a0)</p>
