Man charged with murder for silicone injection death

<p>A grand jury in Albany has indicted a man on murder charges after a death in which industrial grade silicone was injected into the victim's body as a cosmetic procedure.</p><p>The indictment unsealed yesterday says Stephen Oneal Thomas faces charges of murder, involuntary manslaughter, criminal conspiracy and five counts of unauthorized practice of medicine.</p><p>Andre Geter of Alabama experienced convulsions and fell into a coma December tenth after after getting the injections into his face and chest. The chief investigator for the Dougherty County district attorney's office -- James Paulk -- says the man died a month later from multi-organ and respiratory failure.</p><p>The procedure used the type of silicone sold in hardware stores as a sealant and is not sterile. Once it enters the body, it causes infections, particulary in the lungs.</p><p>Mark Edwards, Freddie Clyde and Kontavius Parks also indicted for assisting Thomas in injecting at least five men from September to December 2003.</p><p>Thomas is believed to be traveling around the region, working on transgender women, especially those who compete in beauty pagents.</p>
