<p>A soldier killed last week in Iraq is expected to be returned to Columbus on Tuesday.</p><p>Sgt. Patrick Tainsh, 33, was killed Wednesday in Baghdad when a homemade bomb detonated near his patrol. Tainsh, a Humvee machine gunner and scout, was part of the Armys 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment based at Fort Polk, La.</p><p>He loved what he did, said Deborah Tainsh, his stepmother. He was an independent, Im-going-to-go-my-own-way kind of guy.</p><p>Tainshs body will have a military escort to Columbus on Tuesday. A memorial service is planned at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, but the day and time are not yet known, funeral home officials said Sunday.</p><p>Tainsh had been in Iraq since April and was expected to be able to return home at the end of March. He had planned to get engaged to his girlfriend, Tracy Idiaquez of New Orleans, when he returned, family members said.</p><p>Survivors include his father, David Tainsh and a stepbrother, Phillip Moore of Columbus.</p><p>___</p><p>Information from: Columbus Ledger-Enquirer</p>
