Chamber to host SPLOST information meetings

GAINESVILLE - The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce committee promoting passage of the March 2 Hall County sales tax referendum will host a series of public informational meetings over the next few days.

The meetings will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Service Center in Gainesville; next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hood Community Center in Clermont: and, Tuesday, February 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Flowery Branch Depot.

Chamber officials say the meetings are designed to educate citizens about projects that would be funded by an extension of the tax and offer the opportunity for members of the audience to ask questions.

SPLOST V would fund road, landfill, public safety, library, parks and leisure, and fire department projects totaling $146 million over the five-year life of the tax.
