Alto prisoner killed

ALTO - A 19-year-old prisoner at Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto is dead after an altercation with another inmate.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Mike Clayton says Wayne Michael Boatwright, Jr. died after the Saturday evening incident.

Agents have named Travis McLeod of Toombs County as the chief suspect, but McLeod, who is serving time for murder, has not been charged with Boatwright's death.

Clayton says Boatwright apparently was strangled to death, but the exact cause of death has not been confirmed.

Authorities are not releasing details on why the two inmates were in an altercation. Clayton says it happened in another inmate's cell in building E-2.
