Lady Bobcats maul Towns County

ELLIJAY - The Gilmer County girls softball team pushed its record to 14-9 Monday with in a non-region win over Towns County 5-0. <br> <br> Tori Crawford pitched a one-hitter to get the win for Gilmer going the distance and striking out five. <br> <br> The Lady Cats scored three runs in the 3rd inning and two more in the 5th inning. Lindsey Wiessinger had a triple in the inning scoring two runs.<br> <br> Towns count Broke up the no-hiiter in the fourth inning. <br> <br> Lana Hughes led the Lady Cats with a 2-for-3 evening, followed by Elise Gates, Kim Pierce, with hits. The Lady Cats stole four bases.<br> <br> Next up for Gilmer is a showdown with West Hall with a lot at stake in the Region 7-AAA Tournament beginning next week at Lanier Point.<br> <br> Gilmer has won five of its last six region games, including a 7-0 win over second place Chestatee two weeks ago.
