Aerial photographer fatally shot on sales call

By The Associated Press

A Forsyth County man has been accused of killing an aerial photographer who made his living by taking pictures of houses and businesses from the air and selling prints to the owners.

Terry Thrasher, 64, of Kennesaw had rented airplanes for the past 34 years and flew over the metro Atlanta area taking pictures, his wife, Judy Thrasher, said Friday. Every five or 10 years, he would get a hostile reaction when he approached a homeowner offering to sell them a picture, she said.

Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton said a passing motorist spotted Thrashers body in a ditch on Thursday, a couple of miles south of the Dawson County line. He had been shot in the chest from close range with a small-caliber weapon, Coroner Lauren McDonald III said.

Thrashers truck was parked in the driveway of a nearby home. The homeowner, Morris Cecil Chadwick, 66, was questioned and later charged with murder, sheriffs Capt. Frank Huggins said.

What we suspect, at this point, is that Mr. Thrasher went to Mr. Chadwicks residence and some type of confrontation ensued, Paxton said. It appears that confrontation escalated into the shooting of Mr. Thrasher.
