Amber Alert issued for mother accused of taking sick baby

WATKINSVILLE - A Georgia Amber Alert was issued Friday out of Oconee County for a six-month-old baby girl. <br> <br> Desiree Sayles is believed to have been taken by her own mother. Police say Desiree is in extreme danger because of a medical condition that could be fatal if not treated. <br> <br> Her mother&#39;s name is Christina Sayles. Police say she fled with the child to avoid turning custody over to the Department of Family and Children Services. <br> <br> The mother is thought to be driving a 1989 Nissan 240 SX, burgundy or red in color. The vehicle has a Georgia tag of 8738 ANE or 7048 AJG. Direction of travel is unknown. <br> <br> Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Desiree Sayles or Christina Sayles should call the Oconee County Sheriff&#39;s Office at 706-769-5665.
