ATLANTA - Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer remained in an Atlanta hospital Wednesday, two days after seeking medical attention for chest pains.<br>

Tech director of football operations John Ballein said the coach was vacationing with his family at his lakefront home near Atlanta when he started having chest pains Monday night.<br>

The coach saw a doctor in the area and planned to fly home to be examined by his personal physician but was advised to go to the hospital instead.<br>

A statement from Piedmont Hospital posted on Beamer's personal Web site, Beamerball.com., said Beamer was admitted for observation and further studies. The statement continued, ``He underwent a coronary arteriogram by Doctor John Hurt, and this showed no major blockages. His condition is quite stable and it is anticipated he will be discharged in the next few days.''
