Tech director of football operations John Ballein said the coach was vacationing with his family at his lakefront home near Atlanta when he started having chest pains Monday night.
The coach saw a doctor in the area and planned to fly home to be examined by his personal physician but was advised to go to the hospital instead.
A statement from Piedmont Hospital posted on Beamer's personal Web site, Beamerball.com., said Beamer was admitted for observation and further studies. The statement continued, ``He underwent a coronary arteriogram by Doctor John Hurt, and this showed no major blockages. His condition is quite stable and it is anticipated he will be discharged in the next few days.''
