There was a time in America when we had parades to honor our servicemen ... those who have protected us and our freedom ... and dignitaries came to pay their respects. On Memorial Day, we honored them all, but especially those who gave their lives.
That kind of parade day has returned in Gainesville, Georgia, and you and all the members of your family can be a part of an old-fashioned patriotic event. On Monday, May 26, on the Memorial Day holiday, an old-fashioned, hometown parade will step off down historic Green Street at 10 a.m. and last till 12:30. And then at one p.m. the Memorial Day program will begin under the arch at the new Hall County Court House in downtown Gainesville.
It is a return to hometown patriotism, and an event to honor our American servicemen of all branches, our policemen and firemen, and especially former prisoners of war and those who have died that we may be free.
That's Monday, May 26 ... a good, old-fashioned Memorial Day patriotic event in Gainesville, Georgia. Everybody is invited.
