GAINESVILLE - Through the news and classroom discussions, Riverside Military Academy cadets are following the progress of the war, according to Superintendent Michael Hughes.
In a message to the parents of cadets at the Gainesville school prior to the start of the war, Colonel Hughes said "our thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of the men and women serving in our military, their families, and our government leaders."
Those serving in the military include one faculty member at the school, a Marine Corps reservist, who has been called to active duty.
Colonel Hughes told the parents the school was approaching the military conflict as an educational opportunity about government, history, and social studies.
