LAVONIA - About 100 new jobs will be created over the next two years after the Lavonia automotive plastics plant completes its
$10-Million-plus expansion, officials said.
The groundbreaking for the Kautex-Textron plant expansion was Friday.

The plant is doubling its 80-thousand-square-foot plant to make room for new customers, said John Buckley, vice president of operations for Kautex-Textron.

Kautex-Textron makes fuel tank systems and windshield wiper reservoirs for car companies including DaimlerChrysler, General Motors and Mitsubishi.
Buckley says about 500-thousand parts will be shipped out weekly. Increased upcoming production will mean the company will have to expand its shipping and receiving port.
Lyn Allen from the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce says the company will help revitalize business in northeast Georgia.
It's positive news, she says, compared to plant closings and layoffs in northeast Georgia during the past year.
