West Georgia man sentenced to life in shooting of brother-in-law

COLUMBUS - As family members on both sides of the courtroom wept, a west Georgia man was sentenced Friday to life in prison in the murder of his brother-in-law. <br> <br> James Holsey, 31, was found guilty of shooting his Ron Robinson in the neck after arguing with Robinson&#39;s sister, Holsey&#39;s wife, in July. Witnesses testified that Holsey then chased his wife outside their Columbus home and tried to shoot her. <br> <br> Holsey testified that he shot Robinson in self-defense after the two got into an argument that turned physical. <br> <br> At the sentencing hearing, Robinson&#39;s mother, Ida Crawford, told Muscogee County Superior Court Judge Kenneth Followill that she feels pain for her son&#39;s death every day. She then turned to Holsey. <br> <br> ``I love you, Jamie,&#39;&#39; she said. ``I loved you then. I love you now. But what you did was wrong.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Holsey apologized to his wife&#39;s family. <br> <br> Followill added 10 years for assaulting his wife to the life sentence and five years for possessing a gun during the crime. <br> <br> Holsey won&#39;t be eligible for parole for at least 29 years.
