Truck driver accused of making 3,500 obscene phone calls

<p>A Douglas County man was arrested for making nearly 3,500 obscene phone calls to businesses over a six-week period, including calls to real estate agents.</p><p>Shane Richard Hardy was charged Monday in Magistrate Court with two counts of making harassing phone calls and two counts of stalking. A truck driver, Hardy was accused of making many of the calls on a prepaid cellular phone from his truck.</p><p>This is the most prolific Ive ever seen, said Douglas County Sheriffs Office Chief Deputy Stan Copeland.</p><p>Copeland said officials began investigating after getting complaints from local female real estate agents who reported that a man had called them and made obscene and lewd comments to them.</p><p>Many of the calls came at about the time when two real estate agents were killed in Cobb County: These women were terrified, Copeland said.</p>
