CLEVELAND - United Way of White County has for the sixth straight year met or exceeded its annual fundraising goal.
Lee Fly, Co-President of the United Way of White County, and Bill Sutton, Jr., 2003 Campaign Chairman, made the announcement at a brief ceremony Monday at the United Way campaign progress thermometer on U-S 129 South in Cleveland.
"We thank the community for the support it has given to those in need in White County," Mrs. Fly said, noting that the local United Way is now supporting 21 charitable agencies this year, up from 20 last year.
Sutton said that despite some lingering uncertainty in the economy, "we, as a community, were able to exceed even our own goal and generated over $55,000 in contributions in 2003," he said.
This year's goal was $55,000.
