Indictment due in fatal shooting of Georgia bank teller

<p>An indictment is due Tuesday against two Orlando men arrested in a botched bank robbery that left a teller dead in Georgia, a prosecutor said.</p><p>A public defender was appointed Monday to represent Marcellus Levan Hernandez, who will return to court Thursday for a bail hearing. Terron Vassell Vernon remained hospitalized following a collision in a brief chase that ended with their arrests Sunday.</p><p>The crime was featured Saturday on Americas Most Wanted, the same day a SWAT team staked out their room at a suburban hotel. The team dispersed when the men didnt show up.</p><p>The hotel manager called the lone Miami-Dade police sergeant sitting outside Sunday to say the men were back in a different vehicle. The officer followed them while waiting for backup, and another officer was injured when the mens van rammed her patrol car as three officers moved in to make the arrests.</p><p>Officer Kathleen Eckels, 51, whose car was struck head on, was treated and released from Jackson Memorial Hospital Sunday night, said Miami-Dade police spokesman Juan Del Castillo. A woman from the van also was taken to the hospital.</p><p>Henderson, 21, and Vernon, 22, were wanted on charges of attempted robbery of a bank in Roswell, Ga., and murder in the Oct. 24 death of teller Angela Towle, the FBI said.</p><p>Hotel employees told police that the men had been staying at a Quality Inn since at least Friday.</p><p>FBI spokeswoman Beverly Esselbach said agents believed the men came to South Florida last week.</p><p>In the killing, authorities said two men were waiting outside a Bank of America as Towle arrived to open the branch. She was forced inside and shot several times.</p><p>The men were captured on videotape, which showed the killers wearing dark clothing with their faces covered. The men left the bank without money.</p><p>In court, Henderson said he was vice president of an Orlando car wash open for two months. He said he earned $800 in his best week.</p><p>Prosecutor Rosa Rodriguez Mera asked that he be held without bail as a flight risk and danger to the community. U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrea Simonton set a hearing Thursday on bail and Georgias request to return him for prosecution.</p>
