Lumpkin jury concludes work in Marietta trial

MARIETTA - A jury from Lumpkin County has handed a Paulding County man a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a double homicide in Cobb County four years ago. <br> <br> The jury deliberated Michael Buttram&#39;s sentence for nine hours before returning its decision Saturday night; the same jury had found him guilty Friday. <br> <br> The state had been seeking the death penalty in the Marietta trial and the jury had been picked in Dahlonega because of pre-trial publicity in the Atlanta area.<br> <br> Jury selection began in Dahlonega November 3. The jury was sequestered in Marietta for the duration of the trial.<br> <br> (The Associated Press contributed to this story.)<br>
