22-year-old UGA undergraduate shoots photo for cover of Time

ATEHNS - A University of Georgia undergrad sent to photograph Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan last March has had his photo appear on the cover of Time magazine. <br>

David Marck enlisted in the Army's 314th Press Camp as a photographer and public affairs specialist. A photographer for the The Red and Black -- an independent student-run newspaper -- shot photos of American soldiers and Afghan women and children. <br>

The 22-year-old Huntsville, Alabama, native also earned a double-page spread in Time's ``2002: Year in Photos'' special edition. <br>

The picture on the March 18, 2002, cover of Time was of a soldier resting a gun on his shoulder. The double-page photo was a silhouette of soldiers under fire during an attack on al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters in Afghanistan's Shah-e-Kot mountains.
