ATLANTA - Georgia State University will move up its enrollment deadline and start turning away some students for the first time.
It was once considered a safety school for students who got turned down by the Unversity of Georgia.
Applications for the fall semester at the downtown Atlanta school must be postmarked by March 1 -- a month before most students will know whether they were accepted at the University of Georgia.
Previously, Georgia State's deadline was June.
University administrators say the change is intended to accommodate the growth in the number of applications.
Georgia State also will limit its fall 2003 freshman class size to 2,400 students.
