Savannah rep named to military appropriations committee

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jack Kingston, a Republican from Savannah, was selected Wednesday as a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Military Construction. That's one of the two subcommittees responsible for overseeing funding for the United State's armed services. <br>

Kingston represents the 1st District, home to five military installations: Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins and Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Camden County. <br>

Appropriations Committee Chairman Bill Young made the selection. <br>

Kingston also serves on the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee and chairs the Legislative Branch Subcommittee.
