AUGUSTA - Two brothers face criminal charges in the death of a friend who was thrown from the back of their pickup truck.
Police say that Grovetown brothers Bruce Madden, 36, and Christopher Madden, 33, were riding around early Friday after a night of drinking and pool. Their friend, 25-year-old James Wills of Augusta, was in the back of the truck.
Then Wills was thrown from the truck and run over by one of the truck's rear tires. Police believe the Madden brothers stopped the truck, saw that Wills was badly hurt and fled the scene, switching drivers.
Police found the Madden brothers and the 1988 Mazda pickup truck a short time later.
Bruce Madden was charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, hit-and-run, driving while license suspended and failure to maintain lane.
