ATLANTA - Water may be off the menu unless you ask for it at Atlanta restaurants.
The Atlanta City Council is asking restaurants to stop serving water unless customers request it.

The council voted yesterday to ask eateries in the city to stop putting glasses of water on tables in an effort to conserve water.

Some restaurants already ask before putting out the water.

Compliance with the request is voluntary.
Councilwoman Clair Muller sponsored the resolution.
