Suspect in stable condition after being shot by police

ATLANTA - Atlanta police have charged a 64-year-old man who remains hospitalized after being shot by officers. <br> <br> Willie Lay was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after the shooting in southwest Atlanta about 11 p.m. Wednesday. He is charged with aggravated assault on police and discharging a firearm. <br> <br> Two officers on routine patrol stopped at a business after hearing shots fired. Police say officers fired at the man after he refused to drop his gun and pointed it toward police. <br> <br> The officer who struck the suspect has been put on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
